Photo Vision Screening

Parents Guide To Vision Screening

While wall charts are effective to screen vision in older children, they don’t catch issues before your child can read or talk. Photoscreening enables us to catch vision and eye issues at an earlier age so treatment can begin.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends vision screening in children 1-3 yrs to identify and prevent permanent vision loss. (Or until they can do the wall vision chart). Early treatment of vision issues is important to prevent permanent vision loss.

If the photoscreening is abnormal then your child will be referred to an eye specialist for further evaluation.
